Lyle & PJ Ryan
(from 2014 bio)

Lyle has been married to P.J. (Patricia Josephine) for 27 years and they have two children: Ramah and Ben. Proud parents of both their kids but they do have expectations of Grandchildren!

Lyle spent his growth years in Oregon. All of grade school and high school spent attending the Willamina School District. After graduating from high school he attended Eastern Oregon State University graduating with degrees in business – economics and accounting.

Lyle was destined to be a banker! His senior year of high school he was accepted into a scholarship program offered by the U.S. Bank of Oregon.

So since the age of 17 he has worked in the banking industry. His banking career has been shared with four different organizations: U.S. Bank (eight years), Olympic Bank (two years), Frontier Bank (thirty-one years) and presently with Coastal Community Bank.

Along the way he attended banking graduate school at the University of Washington – Pacific Coast Banking School and the University of Wisconsin – BAI Graduate School of Banking.

Lyle has been fortunate throughout his career to work for organizations that understood the importance of giving back to the community.

As such he has been involved in leadership roles in many organizations: United Way, American Diabetes Association, American Red Cross, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Planning Commission – City of Everett, Everett Housing Authority, Leadership Snohomish County and Cocoon House.

Lyle was first introduced to Rotary at the age of eighteen becoming a member of the Rotary Club of Sheridan, Oregon. He then again rejoined the organization in 1983 becoming a member of the Rotary Club of North Snohomish County (now known as the Rotary Club of Arlington).

During his time with North Snohomish County he served on numerous committees and as Club Treasurer. After promotional opportunities moved him back to Everett, he started his membership with the Rotary Club of Everett in 1986.

His past twenty-seven years with the Everett Rotary club have given him a wealth of Rotary opportunities, including serving as Vice President, President and chair of many committees during the past three decades. Most recently he served as Assistant Governor for the clubs in the Everett and surrounding areas.

Both Lyle and P.J. are Paul Harris fellows understanding the importance of the work that our foundation does in the world. They have been the proud parents of three exchange students (Japan, France and Australia) and have watched their understanding of the power of Rotary grow through these programs.

Internationally both Lyle and P.J. served their club as ambassadors to Mexico delivering wheel chairs to remote parts of that country. They both have on their “bucket list” additional international opportunities to serve the Rotary movement world wide.

Lyle enjoys swimming, running and biking and has taken part in many triathlons throughout the United States.

An avid scuba diver he enjoys spending this activity with the rest of the family all certified divers.
