Kevin Shaughnessy (2002-03)

Kevin was born in Montreal, raised in Ste. Therese, Quebec. He attended High School and University in Montreal. Kevin has vivid memories of the FLQ crisis in Quebec when then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau declared a state of emergenc.y
He joined the Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal and for the next 3 years worked in 5 different communities in Quebec and Ontario. He moved to British Columbia in 1972 having decided to travel and change careers. For the next 4 years he worked with 4 different financial institutions and in 1976 rejoined the Royal Bank.
He has worked in various communities throughout BC and for the past 13 years has resided in Abbotsford.
During the late 1970's and early 1980's, Kevin was involved in coaching hockey, soccer and baseball.
In 1985, Kevin and family were transferred to 100 Mile House, where in addition lo coaching, he joined Rotary and was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was President of the Chamber of Commerce for 2 years and during his tenure, membership increased by 100%.
Kevin was treasurer of the Rotary Club in 100 mile House for 3 years and upon his transfer to the Fraser Valley in 1989, he joined the Rotary Club of Langley Central. He served as treasurer for 3 years, Vice President and President in 1994-95 and has been on the committee of their very successful Wine Festival for the past 13 years. At the District level, Kevin has been a District Governor's representative, Annual Giving Chair, Foundation Chair and Assistant Governor for 3 years.
Kevin met Paddy in Vancouver and they were married in 1976. Their 3 children, Richard, Jacquie and Barry reside in the lower mainland. They also have 2 grandchildren.
They both enjoy travelling, with Kevin an avid sports fan and Paddy enjoying sewing and making crafts . Both Kevin and Paddy are Paul Harris Fellows and Kevin is a Sustaining Paul Harris Fellow and RI Foundation Benefactor.
