Who can attend YAIL?
YAIL is open to the first 60 participants, in High School (ages 15 – 17). The sponsoring Rotary Club pays all participant cost to attend. Participating District 5050 Rotary Clubs ranges from Hope, BC to Everett, WA. The event takes place at Timberline Ranch, Maple Ridge, BC.

Who is YAIL for?
The YAIL Program is for participants that want to become well-rounded individuals with increased perspective and enthusiasm for growth, who can make informed decisions through their leadership journey.
What can I expect from YAIL?
Participants arrive at the camp on Friday afternoon to get signed in and receive their materials for the weekend. Throughout the YAIL weekend, participants will interact and engage with one another through group activities, discussions, and speaker sessions. The weekend is led by experienced facilitators, and a committee of Rotarians, who have a passion for empowering young people. After an engaging weekend, the participants will be picked up mid-day on Sunday to go home.
How do I get selected to attend YAIL?
Generally, participants contact a local Rotary Club who will provide sponsorship and will vouch for your participation in YAIL. If you do not have a sponsoring Rotary Club, completing your registration form will be the first step in getting selected. The YAIL committee will then review the application, and if you are successful, we will work with you to find a sponsoring Rotary club. There are only 60 spots available for participants.
Where is YAIL located?
YAIL is held at Timberline Ranch (22351 144 Avenue, Maple Ridge, BC, Canada).
How do I get to YAIL?
It is your responsibility to arrange transportation to and from YAIL. Your sponsoring Rotary Club RYLA Representative may assist you. Carpooling with other participants may be an option, but the YAIL committee does not guarantee rides to and from the facility.
What should I bring?
- You need a sleeping bag and pillow. All candidates will sleep in bunk beds in cabins, with separate male and female rooms.
- An insulated travel mug and water bottle.
- Hygiene
Bring your own toiletries, and a towel. The camp has flush toilets and shower facilities.
- Clothing
Casual clothing is suitable for all activities. There will be an outdoor project. Bring suitable gloves, old clothes that may get ruined, boots and raingear in the event of bad weather.
- Insurance
The YAIL committee requires personal Medical Insurance Coverage for all attendees while attending YAIL. If you do not have extended medical coverage for outside of the US, you can purchase a travel insurance policy at any insurance agent.
- Personal Item
Bring an item that tells something about you. i.e. musical instrument, craft, hobby, special interest, vocation etc. You may wish to use the item when introducing yourself on Friday evening.
- No Personal Devices
Based on the location of the facility, cell service is limited. As a requirement of the program, we ask that participants do not use their devices for the events duration. Parents/Guardians can contact the Camp Office and, if necessary, Rotarians' cell numbers will be given out in the event of an emergency.
Do I need to bring any food?
You do not need to bring and food. All meals will be provided by the camp (Friday: Dinner | Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner | Sunday: Breakfast). The facility does its best to accommodate all dietary restrictions. In case of severe restrictions, we highly recommend bringing additional snacks to supplement your diet. The facility is not a nut free facility.
