About
YAIL is a program offered by District 5050 of Rotary International, the world’s oldest service organization with over 1.2 million members in over 200 countries.

Candidates are sponsored by a local Rotary Club within District 5050. Since District 5050 clubs are in both Washington State and British Columbia, we have a diverse group of Americans, Canadians, and youth exchange students. Those who attend have a broad range of knowledge, experiences, & passions.
Mission
To give participants opportunities to: utilize their new (undiscovered) leadership skills; create interpersonal bonds; embrace challenges; and learn the value of teamwork.
Purpose
YAIL will help you discover new skills and improve those you already have by providing engaging exercises in the following areas:
  • Progressing personal leadership development.
  • Assisting in learning the value of teamwork.
  • Developing the fundamentals of “Service above Self.”
  • Building lasting relationships with like-minded individuals.
  • Providing an immersive learning environment to foster growth.
Who can attend YAIL?
YAIL is open to the first 60 participants, in High School (ages 15 – 17). All costs are paid by the sponsoring Rotary club. There is no cost to participants. Participating District 5050 Rotary clubs range from Hope, BC to Everett, WA. The event takes place at Alexandra Neighborhood House in Surrey, BC.

The YAIL Program
Participants arrive at the camp on Friday afternoon to get signed in and receive their materials for the weekend. Throughout the YAIL weekend, participants will interact and engage with one another through group activities, discussions, and speaker sessions. The weekend is led by experienced facilitators, and a committee of Rotarians, who have a passion for empowering young people. After an engaging weekend, the participants will be picked up mid-day on Sunday to go home.
