On 17 May 2025, Rotary Clubs throughout District 5050 come together for this year's EPIC Day of Service, a global movement dedicated to making a positive impact through hands-on service projects. In our district, which serves NW Washington and Fraser River Valley, BC alone, 32 Rotary Clubs will mobilize thousands of volunteers to address critical needs in their communities.

Since its inception, the EPIC Day of Service has grown into an international movement, currently spanning seven countries: the United States, Canada, Brazil, Australia, England, The Netherlands, and Bermuda. By 2024, the event spanned seven countries, four continents, 21 districts, 1,264 clubs, and 36,040 Rotarians.

This year's projects in the Fraser Valley and northwest Washington, as well as in ten additional US States (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, Colorado, Wyoming and Michigan), will continue this legacy of impact addressing issues such as environmental sustainability, food insecurity, education and community revitalization.

"This is a day when people can witness the true spirit of Rotary in Action," said Ann Anderst, Rotary District 5050 Service Committee Chair. "We invite the media, local leaders and community members to join us and see firsthand how service transforms lives."

The projects include a renewal project at Ponder Park in Langley, BC: strengthening a community farm in Chilliwack; constructing a handicap accessible sidewalk at the Abbotsford Ravine Salmon Enhancement Society; landscaping at Tamarack Terrace; creating 40 care packages for Dixon Transition Society (for women transitioning out of domestic violence); shoreline cleanup and community education; foot bridge rebuilding at the Whatcom Land Trust; cataloging for the Skagit County Historical Museum; constructing a shed for Helping Hands Food Bank; replacing a picket fence at the Stanwood/Camano Island Rotary Park; beautification Arlington Cemetery before Memorial Day; refreshing Lundeen Park in Lake Stevens; landscaping and organizing artifacts for the Everett Museum of History; installation of an access mat for the handicapped at a local beach; and painting graffiti a Deception Pass.

Congratulations to all on their commitment to this exciting endeavor and on promoting Rotary's magic in their communities.
